Over the past six months, China’s commercial vehicle exports have maintained strong momentum. In 2025, commercial vehicle exports reached 1.06 million units—a year-on-year increase of 17.2%—while heavy-duty truck exports hit 30,000 units in January 2026, up 23.9% year-on-year; as core supporting equipment, semi-trailers have seen a parallel rise in export demand. Africa—and West Africa in particular—has emerged as a key growth region for semi-trailer exports, with growth rates exceeding 40% year-on-year. Major export models include flatbed and dump semi-trailers, which are well-suited to local operational needs such as infrastructure-related transport and cargo distribution.
For instance, in February 2026, a Chinese company exported four brand-new four-axle rear-dump semi-trailers to a client in Mali; paired with used tractor units to form complete transport sets, these vehicles were tailored for local sand and gravel hauling as well as infrastructure construction projects. In May 2026, a Chinese enterprise secured an order for four flatbed semi-trailers from a Ghanaian client, helping them upgrade transport capacity cost-effectively to meet demands for building material transport and short-haul cross-border freight. Furthermore, domestic companies are shifting from simple product exports to localized operations; through models such as KD (Knock-Down) assembly and local manufacturing, they are deeply integrating into overseas markets, further enhancing the competitiveness of their semi-trailers and propelling Chinese brands onto the global stage.
